I will continue my daily music blog post plans I had for this site but will be putting them up on The Cali Classic now. So check out that site which features great sports stories and opinions as well as offering the best music you might not have heard before.

This new blog is going to post multiple times a day so be sure to constantly check out the blog for new updates.

The BLOG is baaaaaaaaaacccccccccccccckkkkkkk!!!

I love music too much not to write about it, so I have decided to bring this blog back into the blogosphere. Most of the music I post will be up-tempo music, hip hop, rock, remixes, and anything I find musically interesting.

I'm going to do posts everyday this time and I'm going to have a different theme for each day of the week. But I need to develop some consistent themes for each day. So here are the themes I have set so far for each day:
  • Mashup Monday - A mashup is a song or composition created by blending two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seamlessly over the music track of another.
For example one of my favorite mashups:
  • New Music Tuesday - I will present a song that came out that day or within the week of the day I post it. For example Midnight Hour a sorta retro melody by classic rapper Talib Kweli but is really great because of Estelle vocals put on the track (so new there is no youtube video for it yet!)
  • Hump day Wednesday - I honestly couldn't think of any good thing for this day except giving you songs that motivate you to get through the week like this one:

  • Thirsty Thursday - Songs that you listen to once and you just want to hear more. These will be artists who dont have a ton of music released yet like Chiddy Bang.
Here is a song by my favorite group that hasn't released an album yet:
  • Free Friday - Because Friday will always be my favorite day of the week I'm doing whatever song I am just liking the most, whether it be a new song or an oldie. So I offer you one of my all time favorite songs by my all time favorite band, Blink-182:

  • Party it up Saturday - Whenever I think of Saturday's I just think of living it up and having a good time so I bring you songs to party to, so I would give you I gotta feeling by Black Eyed Peas because that's one of my favorite party songs but I will give you a great remix to it instead with Wale and Kid Cudi, two of my favorite rappers who are making it big in the game this year.

So here's Live It Up by Wale featuring Kid Cudi:
  • Smooth Sunday - Just relaxing songs that you can chill out too, heck even work to.
So I offer you one of my favorite songs by Sublime:

Well there you have it, DJ Spnz 2 Fst AKA Zach S-E's weekly music lineup.

Tomorrow I am going to give you another dose of "Party it up" Saturday, let me know what you think of the songs I posted above and if you have any suggestions (for songs, music themes, changes to the blog) please let me know. I love CONSTRUCTIVE cricism.

Special Guests, Exlusives and random fun!

Last Thursday November 12 was another episode of Big Poppa Radio and although Killah Cam was unable to make it, we still had a great show as we had two special guests (DJ Skeets McGeets and hip-hop group Genisys) and an exclusive song by Genisys!
We talked about several very different topics and played a bunch of new songs:

Special Guests
Because Killah Cam couldn't come on the show last thursday I called on Drew B (above on the wide left) to be the guest co-host on Big Poppa Radio. This was his 2nd time on the show as he was a special guest last semester as well.
Also we had hip-hop duo Genisys, which is two Syracuse University students who started Genisys last summer after freestyling and performing hip hop for a long time. They were awesome, freestyled acapella and also freestyled over these songs:
  • Jay-Z - Encore
  • Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man
  • Booker T and the MG's - Green Onions
Comfortable Clothing
We talked about what the most comfortable article of clothing is; me and Drew agreed upon sweatpants because you can wear them anytime and they take only seconds to put on as well.

New segment
Drew came up with the name of a new segment on the show for guests that come on: The Inferno. It's basically like Hot Seat if you watch ESPN except much cooler and with crazier more random questions. We grilled Genisys in The Inferno with some crazy questions and they prevailed successfully.

Exclusive song and sports news
We played a new Genisys song that is a WERW/"Big Poppa Radio" exclusive that isn't even available for download yet! It's called "Whateva U Want" and if you didn't hear it last time then listen for it on future Big Poppa shows!

Also our baseball inside source Brendan from Minnesota called in and let us know of information that the Minnesota Twins are trying to trade Catcher Joe Mauer, you heard it first on Big Poppa Radio!

Music
Not only did we play like half of Genisys new mixtape, "Lyrical Exercises Volume 1" which you can download here but we also played some new Wale, Fort Minor and Usher and some oldies as well. Here are some of the songs we played:
Here's the official Genisys website where you can download there new mixtape and keep up to date with what the group is up to!

Comment on which song(s) you like the most!

Next Show: Thursday November 19, 5-7 pm EST!
Here's a preview for the next show:
  • More new music
  • Plans for thanksgiving
  • When will it snow in Syracuse?
  • Possibly a new special guest!
  • Random discussion and random music

1st Official Show of Semester!

Killah Cam was out because of a mandatory lab meeting that a teacher had to push back during our show, however DJ Jeenie (Fahad) came on the show as our special guest.

Also Zach Attack did an exclusive interview with Boston hip-hop artist Chucklehead and Chucklehead did a small freestyle as well. Check out his facebook page if you want to hear some of his music.

The show was marked by some weird stories, some really good song requests, and the show after us, "The We Don't Have A Name Yet" Show, came in the studio 15 minutes early to bother us which was an unpleasant surprise.

Here's what happened on Big Poppa Radio last Thursday:

Lots of Music
Here are almost all the songs we played and links to download/youtube them:

Ask me for this song since it's not online:
Gone Til Novembuary - AMEER ft. Rsonist & Sincere of The Product G&B

Download Mike Posner's new mixtape "One Foot Out The Door" for free on iTunes ; here are two songs we played from his mixtape:
  • Mirror's Edge - Mike Posner ft. Bun B, GLC and XV
  • You Don't Have to Leave - Mike Posner
Thanks for the song requests Ariel, Noah and Jeff. Comment on which song you like the most!

Halloween!
Guess what we were for halloween: If you listened to the show you probably found out and if not you will find out through our facebook pictures that I post.

Comment and show us pictures of the best Halloween costumes and we may just give you a prize if the costume is awesome! Frank thanks for sending me a picture of this costume which I think is funny & clever.

Celebrity-Video Game Character look alikes
We briefly talked about some celebrities that look like video game characters. Zach's favorite was Reese Witherspoon and Princess Peach and Fahad liked the one between Kurt Russel and Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. Let us know which one you think is the best!

Next show: Thursday November 5, 5-7 PM Eastern Standard Time
Here is a little preview of what's going on for the next show:
  • It's Zach Attack's 21st Birthday!
  • Killah Cam is going to be back!
  • More new music and more prizes!
  • Possible new special guest
Also for our November 12 show we may have a really famous special guest, however I can't tell you since it's not official yet. Be sure to check out our facebook page for more info on Big Poppa Radio!

We're Back!!!

After almost six months away from the radio station, we are finally back. We did our 1st show of the semester this past thursday on October 22 and in case you missed out here is a recap of it:

New special guest!
One of our close friends Fahad (aka DJ Prestige) came on the show.
After interviewing him about nonsense, he finally grew some balls and felt more comfortable talking. Thanks for coming on the show Fahad, hope to have you on soon again!

Some radio malfunctions
So we weren't supposed to do our show last thursday, but we did it anyway because we're BAMF's (Dane Cook reference). What we didn't know was the cable to plug in our music was missing and the sound quality was still being worked out so we had to play our music from youtube off the station computer. If you were listening you may have heard us talk about this every 10 minutes or so. However no need to worry as THIS PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE FIXED BY OUR NEXT SHOW.

New Hip-Hop Music
One of our goals is to play new music that hasn't been played out on mainstream radio, that hasn't been exposed to most of you yet. Usually every show we are going to play some of our favorite new hip-hop songs.
Here are the new songs we played and the links to download them:

Other Music we played
We also took some song requests and played some other songs that we enjoy as well. Here are some of those:

Notorious B.I.G. & Miley Cyrus - Party and Bullshit in the USA (Remix by Hathbanger)

Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me ft. Big Sean

Ed Helms (From the Hangover) – Doug

Method Man & Redman – Errbody Scream ft. Keith Murray

Crosby Stills & Nash – Judy Blue Eyes

ATC – Around the World

Marty B - Cap N Crunch Rap

Comment on which song you like the most!

Thanks to Zak, Robin & Tyrrell for the song requests! Thanks to Jose for sending me the video for that last song I put up Feel free to request songs and if you have new music you want us to play, let us know.

Prizes

We also gave out 2 free tickets to University Union's Bandersnatch Presents series which is headlined by Mike Posner. Click here for details of it on Facebook! Congratulations to Max for winning the Mike Posner tickets, hope to see you there at the concert. We will be giving out more prizes this week as well.

Next Show: Thursday October 29 from 5-7 PM Eastern Standard Time

Here's a look at what we will be doing on our show this week:

  • Hip Hop artist Chucklehead will be coming on the show this week, check out his facebook fan page! He is opening for Mike Posner tomorrow and we were fortunate enough to be able to interview him and have him freestyle a little!
  • New music from Timbaland, T-Pain, Usher and more!
  • More prizes!!!
  • Talking about whatever comes up in our heads.

Be sure to listen to us at http://128.230.242.180:8100/listen.m3u
